Vol. 20 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THE ANNUAL REGISTER OF ELECTORS.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that the date fixed by Section 8 of the Electoral Act, 1923, for the coming into force of the Annual Register of Electors is most unsuitable, and whether, in view of the County Council Elections taking place next year, he intends to introduce legislation to alter the date from the 1st of June to the 1st April, or other suitable date.

On the information before me I am not satisfied that a more appropriate date could be fixed for the coming into force of the Register, and accordingly legislation of the nature proposed is not intended.
