Vol. 20 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BRITISH EX-SERVICE MEN IN THE CIVIL SERVICE.

asked the Minister for Finance what are the Government's intentions with regard to British ex-Servicemen at present employed as temporary clerks in the Free State Civil Service who have years of service and were handed over to the Free State on transfer of Government, and were not eligible to sit for the recent limited examination confined to ex-National Army men.

All temporary clerks irrespective of their class of origin who have failed to pass the limited competitions specially provided for their benefit will be retained in their temporary capacity so long as their services may be required. It is not the intention to afford to the officials referred to in the question or to any other categories of temporary clerks any further special facilities for entry to the permanent service.
