Vol. 20 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF KILDARE LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he is aware that the untenanted lands of Clonagh, Straffan, Co. Kildare, are likely to be available for purchase owing to the death of the late owner, Mrs. Elizabeth Farrell, and whether he will draw the attention of the Land Commission to the desirability of acquiring this farm for the enlargement of uneconomic holdings in this neighbourhood.

The lands of Clonagh referred to comprise part of the holding of Mrs. Elizabeth Farrell, deceased, held by her as judicial tenant on the estate of Major John W. Aylmer, Co. Kildare. The estate is being dealt with by the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1923, and the holding mentioned will be retained under Section 28 (6) (a) on the appointed day, and the Commissioners will consider the advisability of exercising their powers of resumption under Section 29 of the Act.
