Vol. 20 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BALLINAMORE AND BALLYCONNELL CANAL.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what the results of the inspection by the engineers of the Board of Works on the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Canal have been, and whether, as a result of these investigations, it is proposed to carry out any drainage improvements on this canal this season.

The Board of Works engineer has just completed his inspection of the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Canal, but has not yet submitted his report. In the circumstances, and in view of the procedure necessary under the Arterial Drainage Acts it is unlikely that any works of drainage improvement can be undertaken this year in connection with this canal.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say when the report will be available?

I should say in about a month.
