Vol. 21 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF THE HORNIDGE ESTATE, CO. WICKLOW.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in the acquisition of the Hornidge Estate, containing about 900 acres, in the townlands of Tulfaris, etc., County Wicklow, for the relief of congestion, and whether he will give instructions for the acquisition and division of those lands amongst the large number of congests in the district as soon as possible.

The Land Commission issued a proposal to purchase approximately 400 acres, the property of Captain Hornidge, but this proposal was not accepted by the owner.

The Land Commission now propose to institute compulsory proceedings for the acquisition of certain lands, the property of this owner, under the provisions of Section 24 of the Land Act, 1923.
