Vol. 22 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KERRY TRUNK ROAD.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that the portion of the trunk road between the Workhouse and the Mall, Dingle, County Kerry, is in urgent need of reconstruction and steam-rolling, and whether, in view of the unemployment and distress which prevail locally as a result of the bad fishing season, he will consider the allocation of a grant for this purpose.

I am aware of the condition of the road referred to. Work would have been carried out on it out of the Road Fund Grant allocated in March, 1927, to the Dingle area, but for the fact that certain new water supply pipes had not then been laid. No road fund grants can be given at present for such special works, and the grant for the relief of unemployment has already been fully allocated. The matter will, however, receive consideration as soon as circumstances permit.
