CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WESTMEATH LAND IMPROVEMENT.

asked the Minister for Fisheries what portion of the moneys available for land improvement have been allotted to Westmeath from September, 1927, to February 1st, 1928, and what further grants are available for this county.

The amounts sanctioned by the Land Commission in the period mentioned for improvement of lands in County Westmeath purchased by them under the Land Purchase Acts is £821, and the amounts expended in the period in respect of these and previous sanctions is £1,136. Expenditure for the improvement of lands purchased under the Land Purchase Acts is not allocated by counties, but is sanctioned by the Land Commission as each estate where such expenditure is necessary is reached in its turn to be dealt with.
