Vol. 22 No. 17

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - POSTAL OFFICIALS.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the number of officers of each grade, clerical and manipulative, in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs on the 31st March, 1926, 1927 and 1928

Dividing the staff of Posts and Telegraphs as clerical, manipulative, and technical and industrial, the number of officers employed on the 1st January each year is:—

Clerical

Manipulative

Technical & Industrial

Total.

1926

548

10,910

1,257

12,715

1927

590

10,932

1,100

12,622

1928

586

10,880

The figures are given for the 1st January each year because they are more readily obtainable than those for the 31st March. Between the two dates there would not be any material difference.
