Vol. 23 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DUN LAOGHAIRE POST OFFICE.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the doors and fittings for the Dun Laoghaire Post Office have been supplied by an English firm of manufacturers; whether Irish manufacturers were invited to quote for the supply of these doors; and, if so, why the order for the doors was not placed with an Irish firm.

Tenders for the work required to be done at Dun Laoghaire Post Office were asked for by advertisement in the Irish Press and six firms in the Dublin area were specially invited to tender.

The contract was placed with a Dublin firm, and the doors, screens and fittings were made by them, with the exception of the revolving door. This could not be obtained in this country, and was supplied by one of the two English firms who specialise in the manufacture of revolving doors.

Do I understand the Minister to say that revolving doors are not made in this country?

Mr. BOURKE

Yes, that is my information.
