Vol. 24 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - HUGHESTOWN (CO. ROSCOMMON) FARM.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether his attention has been drawn to the case of Mr. Michael Higgins, tenant of a labourer's cottage, in the townland of Hughestown, on the Molloy Estate, County Roscommon; whether this man applied for a portion of the Hughestown farm when it was being divided; and whether the Minister can state why his application was refused by the Land Commission.

Applications on behalf of Michael Higgins were received by the Land Commission, and his case was duly considered, but the Commissioners in the exercise of the discretion conferred on them by statute could not see their way to make him an allotment.

Is it not a fact that allotments have been made to other occupants of labourers' cottages on that and a neighbouring estate?

I do not know on the same estate.

On a neighbouring estate?

Possibly, yes.
