I move for leave to introduce a Bill entitled "An Act to extend for a limited period the time during which the Betting Act, 1926, shall continue in force." The purpose of this Bill is to continue the Betting Act in operation for a period of six months. In our opinion considerable amendment in the original Act will be necessary, but it has not been possible so far to conduct investigations with a view to suggesting these amendments before next November, when the Act will expire.
BETTING BILL, 1928—FIRST STAGE.
Leave granted. Bill read First Time.
Second Stage ordered for Wednesday, 27th June.
