Vol. 25 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LLOYD ESTATE (CO. TIPPERARY).

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that the Lloyd Estate, Longford House, Co. Tipperary, has been purchased by Mr. Meagher, District Justice, Templemore; whether he will state why this land was not acquired by the Land Commission; and whether he will now consider the advisability of acquiring it from the purchaser for division among uneconomic holders in the district.

The lands on the Lloyd Estate, Co. Tipperary, were published on the 10th February, 1928, in a Provisional List of lands which will, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

An objection was lodged by the owner and the matter was heard by the Court of the Land Commission on the 13th ult. Having heard counsel and the evidence produced, the court allowed the objection in respect of portion of the lands, and disallowed it as regards the remaining portion.

On what grounds did the Land Commission refuse to take over these lands and divide them between the uneconomic holders of that district?

The Land Commission are taking over portion of these lands.

This man is in a good position.

The land could be excluded as demesne land.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary allow us to see the report of the evidence given at the inquiry? Is he aware that District Justice Meagher has something like 70 acres already in his own hands?
