Vol. 26 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TIPPERARY OLD AGE PENSIONER.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will state the reason why Mr. Michael Burke, Curraheen, Toomevara, Co. Tipperary, aged 84 years, is only in receipt of an old age pension of 1/- per week.

This pensioner was allowed a pension of 4/- a week on the 2nd June, 1921, by the Nenagh Pension Sub-Committee. This was apparently reduced, possibly on review under the 1924 Act, to 1/- a week. On 11th August, 1926, the pensioner raised a question for an increase which came up on appeal on 17th January, 1927. It was reported that he was maintained by his son in comfortable circumstances, and upon full consideration of all the facts as reported the application for an increase in the pension was refused by a decision given on 9th March, 1927. The case has not since come up on appeal.

Mr. SHEEHY

Is the Minister aware that under a deed of transfer this man is only entitled to £15 per annum?

The decision has already been given. A further decision cannot be given until the question has been re-raised, and there is no reason for re-raising the question except the circumstances are different from those at the time of the last application.
