Vol. 27 No. 4

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ARREAR-COLLECTION OF INCOME TAX.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the amounts of income tax collected in years after 1923-24 which related to years prior to the year concerned:— thus, whether he can state what amount was collected in 1924-25 which related to 1923-24 and 1924-25, what amount was collected in 1926-27 which related to 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26, and what amount was collected in 1927-28 which related to 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26 and 1926-27, and whether he will state the amounts for each year separately.

As the answer is in the form of a tabular statement I propose to circulate it in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

It should be noted that a considerable portion of the Income Tax assessed in one year is normally collected in the following year.
