Vol. 29 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Westmeath Old Age Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that James Gilooly, of Ballygarvea, Rathowen, Co. Westmeath, applied twelve months ago for a revision of his old age pension on the question of means, and has not yet received a decision.

The Deputy appears to have been misinformed as to the facts.

Mr. Gilooly made a claim to old age pension twelve months ago, and by decision of the Local Pension Committee, dated 10th August, 1928, he was granted a pension at the 7s. rate with effect as from 13th July, 1928, i.e., the date on which he attained the statutory age. He did not appeal against this decision.

On 26th February, 1929, he applied for an increase in the rate of his pension. The question was investigated by the Pension Officer on 20th March and the papers were forwarded on 8th April to the Pension Committee. The Pension Officer has not yet received notification of their decision.
