Vol. 32 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planting Forth Mountain (Wexford).

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state when he intends to carry into effect the proposal to plant Forth Mountain, Wexford.

The proposed planting of Forth Mountain by the State cannot be commenced until the land has been acquired. Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the rights held over this land had to be postponed until the Forestry Act is brought into operation by Order. It is not, however, feasible for me to make such Order until the necessary arrangements in connection with the staff required for the administration of the additional work entailed by the Forestry Act have been completed. So far as the Department is concerned there will be no avoidable delay in the matter.

Am I to understand from the Minister's answer that the work is held up by some other Department in connection with the appointment of a staff?

Mr. Hogan

That is hardly a fair way to put it.
