Vol. 32 No. 6

Written Answers. - Injured by Military Lorry.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware (1) that at a Court of Inquiry held on the 8th and 9th day of April, 1929, the Court found that a Driver, A.M.C., Army No. 63618, knocked down one John Barry at Cornmarket on the 7th February last, and that he was guilty of negligence; (2) that at a subsequent courtmartial the findings of the Court of Inquiry were confirmed, and (3) whether he has taken any steps to inquire into the nature and extent of the injuries, and what compensation it is proposed to pay to him.

I am aware of the facts as stated in the first part of the question. The proceedings of the court-martial referred to have not yet terminated. An offer of compensation which has been made to Mr. Barry has been refused by him.

I am having the case reconsidered.
