Vol. 32 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Co. Galway Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if the Irish Land Commission, in view of the congestion in the area, intend to take steps to acquire the lands in Moyne, Co. Galway, known as Waithman Estate, for distribution amongst the tenants there.

The lands to which the Deputy refers appear to be those purchased by Mr. R.W. Waithman under the Land Purchase Acts and subject to a Land Purchase annuity, comprising 438 acres on the townlands of Moyne and other townlands, and of which Most Rev. Dr. Mac-Rory and others are now the registered owners. There are no proceedings pending before the Land Commission for their acquisition, nor have the Land Commission considered it necessary to make any inquiry regarding them for the purpose of proceedings under the Land Act, 1923
