Vol. 32 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral—Answers. - South Sligo Subscribers to Dáil Loan.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the total amount refunded to date to subscribers towards the Dáil Loan (Internal), 1919-20, in the old Parliamentary Constituency of South Sligo and when the remaining applications will be dealt with.

With regard to the first part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to the question which he addressed to me on the 4th July last regarding subscribers in South Sligo. With regard to the second part of the question the position is that my Department has communicated with several persons who are stated to have collected subscriptions to this loan requesting them to furnish particulars of the sums they collected. In a few cases satisfactory particulars have been furnished and authority to repay the subscriptions has been given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs. Further inquiries are being made in the remaining cases, but the difficulties arising from the loss of original lists and other records of subscriptions render the task a difficult one.
