Vol. 32 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Arrests at Carrick-on-Shannon.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that Michael Kelleher, Meera, Carrick-on-Shannon, and Thomas Gilroy, Cortober, Carrick-on-Shannon, have within the last six months been repeatedly arrested and taken to Carrick-on-Shannon barracks by the detective division of the Gárda Síochána; whether he is further aware that at an identification parade on 10th October, 1929, at Carrick-on-Shannon, Thomas Carr was identified by Joseph Feely in connection with certain incidents at Mantua, Co. Roscommon, and if he will state the reason why Gilroy was charged, and Carr was not charged though identified in connection with these incidents, and whether he is prepared to give an assurance that this persecution of prominent Republicans in this area will cease forthwith.

I have called for a report in this matter, and when the information is available I will communicate with the Deputy.
