Vol. 33 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Agricultural Produce.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if there is any distinguishing mark for foreign agricultural produce so as to prevent the substitution of it for home produce in the course of distribution in the Saorstát market.

The reply to the question is in the negative, but the importation of goods to which misleading marks as to origin are applied is prohibited by the Merchandise Marks Act. I understand that in the Merchandise Marks Bill, which is being prepared by the Minister for Industry and Commerce, it is proposed to make provision to prevent the substitution of imported produce for the produce of the Saorstát.
