These lands were published in a provisional list of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, would become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day. The owners objected to the acquisition of the lands of Galleastown and Ballynamona on the grounds that they were farmed in conjunction with the lands of Crossdrum, which has been in occupation of the Rotherham family for upwards of a century and that the latter lands could not be profitably worked without them. This objection was heard in the Court of the Irish Land Commission and disallowed. The owner appealed to the Judicial Commissioner, who reversed the decision of the Land Commission by excluding the lands of Galleastown and Ballynamona from the proceedings. An offer was communicated to the owner for the lands of Knocklough and Newtown, but has been refused by him. It is now under consideration as to whether the price should be fixed and published in accordance with the Act.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state if he intends taking steps to complete the unfinished portion of the road fence on the North side of the Galmoystown (Kearney Estate), near Oldcastle.

The Land Commission anticipate that they will be in a position to deal with this matter at an early date.
