Written Answer. - Unemployed and Insurance Benefits.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of workers insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts, distinguishing between male, female and juvenile workers; the number in each class in receipt of unemployment benefit, and the number registered as unemployed in each county of the Saorstát on January 1st, 1929, and on January 1st, 1930, or on the nearest dates for which the figures are available.

The numbers of persons insured under these Acts are as follows:—

Particulars in reply to the last parts of the question are not available by counties. I can only give the figures in relation to the area of each Employment Exchange, including its attached branch offices, an area not necessarily coterminous with a county. These figures are as follows:—
