Vol. 34 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Employees and Local Authorities.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has yet considered the representations made to him on the 7th June, 1928, by a deputation representative of all parties in the House on the subject of restoring to Post Office employees the right which they enjoyed up to 1925 of standing for election to local authorities in cases where their membership did not conflict with their Post Office duties, and, if so. whether he is in a position to announce a decision on the subject.

I have considered the representations made to me as to the question of restoring to Post Office employees the privilege enjoyed up to 1925 of being permitted to stand for election to local authorities. After a careful review of all the circumstances I regret I am unable to see my way to modify the existing regulation on the subject which applies to the Civil Service generally.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has fixed the rates of interest on the respective amounts of liability assumed by the Electricity Supply Board for such portions handed over by the Minister for Industry and Commerce from the contractors as prescribed by Section 15 (2) of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927.

The answer is in the affirmative.
