Vol. 34 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Galway Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if it is the intention of the Land Commission to acquire the Deerpark Farm, on the Begley Estate, Co. Galway; and, if not, whether any promises have been made by any Land Commission official regarding the taking over of above for distribution amongst congested tenants.

The lands mentioned in the Deputy's question appear to be the tenanted holding comprising an area of 180a. 1r. 8p. of John J. Burke (formerly J. F. Begley), on the townlands of Bermingham Demesne and Deerpark on the estate of C. T. O'Rorke. This holding will be retained by the Land Commission under the provisions of Section 28, sub-section (6) (d), of the Land Act, 1923, with a view to resumption.
