Vol. 34 No. 15

Written Answers. - Dáil Eireann Loan.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received a request for payment of a subscription of £2 to Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-1920, from Mr. James Quinlan, Kilclooney, Kildorrery, Co. Cork, and, if so, how soon it is intended to pay him.

An application for repayment in respect of a sum of £2 stated to have been subscribed by him to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan, has been received from Mr. James Quinlan of Kilclooney, Kildorrery, but there is no record in my Department of the payment of the sum in question. A list of persons who are stated to have subscribed to the loan in the Kildorrery district has recently been received and is being investigated. The list contains an entry of a sum of £2 in the name of Mr. James Quinlan. No evidence has yet been furnished, however, to show that the total amount represented by the list was received in the Dáil Department of Finance, and consequently I am not at present in a position to indicate when repayment to Mr. James Quinlan may be authorised.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the late Thomas O'Grady, Curraghmore, Saltmills, Co. Wexford, subscribed £5 to Dáil Eireann Loan, that his widow, Mrs. Anastatia O'Grady, Newtown, Duncannon, has repeatedly claimed refund of the subscription, that the necessary formalities with regard to administration have been fulfilled, and whether the Minister can now authorise repayment to Mrs. O'Grady.

Authority to issue a Savings Certificate to the executors of the will of the late Thomas O'Grady, Curraghmore, Saltmills, Co. Wexford, in respect of a sum of £5 subscribed by him to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan, 1919-20, was given to the Accountant, Department of Posts and Telegraphs on the 3rd April, 1929. The certificate was duly issued on the 5th idem to one of the executors of the deceased's will, and receipt thereof was acknowledged by him.
