CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - Fóchoimeádóiri Talmhaiochta agus An Ghaedhilg.

D'fhiafraí

den Aire Talmhaíochta (a) cé mhéid fóchoimeádóirí talmhaíochta nach bhfuil aon Ghaedhilg acu atá ag obair i nGaeltacht an tSaorstáit; (b) an bhfuil rún no intinn ag an Aire iad san d'aistriú go luath agus oifigigh ag a bhfuil an Ghaedhilg go líomhtha do chur ina n-ionad; agus (c) ar bhféidir an t-aistriú san do dhéanamh roimh Lá Nodlag Beag, 1931, agus an gcuirfeadh san aon chostas breise ar an Roinn.

(a) Of 43 assistant agricultural overseers employed in districts wholly or partly within the Gaeltacht, 31 (including 10 employed in wholly Gaeltacht areas) have not sufficient knowledge of Irish to conduct their business in that language. (b) The Department have under training at the Athenry Agricultural Station a first batch of 23 Irish-speaking students— farmers' sons—whom it is intended to assign to the Gaeltacht districts as soon as their training for the post of assistant agricultural overseer has been completed. (c) It is hoped that a number of these men will be ready for assignment early in the New Year.
