Vol. 36 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Croghan River (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Office of Public Works have received the necessary Statutory Resolution from the County Council of Offaly, together with a petition under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, in respect of the Croghan River; and, if so, what progress has been made, and when a scheme is likely to be prepared.

Mr. Bourke

The Commissioners of Public Works received in September, 1929, a petition, together with the necessary resolutions, from the Offaly County Council for the drainage of the Croghan River.

With regard to the second part of the question the petitions received under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, are dealt with, as far as possible, in the order of priority according to the date of their receipt. The inspection of this district will be carried out at the earliest possible moment, but in view of the many petitions which reached the Commissioners before the Croghan petition and have not yet been examined, the Commissioners are unable to indicate at present when the inspection is likely to take place or whether, and if so, when, it will be possible to prepare a scheme for voting on by the occupiers of affected lands.
