Vol. 37 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Worn-out Horses.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is prepared to consider introducing legislation to have worn-out horses killed before export.

Mr. Hogan

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to a previous similar question by Deputy J.X. Murphy on 11th December last. The inquiries referred to in that reply have not yet been completed, and the matter is continuing to receive the Department's careful attention.

Might I ask the Minister if he will be prepared to instruct the Minister for Industry and Commerce as to the interpretation of the term "worn-out horses"?

Mr. Hogan

I would find it difficult.
