Vol. 37 No. 8

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurrection Leaders' Dependents' Allowances.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state what is the annual allowance or pension voted to the widows of the signatories of the Republican Proclamation of 1916; whether such allowance is subject to income tax; and, if so, what amount was so collected for each year since 1926.

The annual allowance payable to the widows in question is £180 each. This allowance is in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 of the Army Pensions Act, 1923, as amended by Section 4 (2) of the Army Pensions Act, 1927. The allowances are subject to Income Tax.

Did the Minister say the allowance was subject to income tax?
