Vol. 37 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rebate of Duty on Motor Hackney Cars.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the hardships inflicted on owners of motor hackney cars by their exclusion from the provisions of Section 11 of the Finance Act, 1930; and, if so, whether he will make provisions for a rebate of the duty on these cars.

I am not aware of any hardships inflicted on owners of motor hackney cars by their exclusion from the provisions of Section 11 of the Finance Act, 1930, and it is not proposed to provide for a rebate of the duty on such cars.

Is the Minister aware of the fact that the provisions for rebate apply only to hackney cars in the City of Dublin, and in view of this fact will he make provisions for rebate on all hackney cars?

No; this matter was fully discussed on the Finance Bill last year.
