Vol. 41 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the position with regard to the following estates:—The Greene Estate, Lattin; Ballywire Estate, Kilross; Synone estate, Boherlahan, which are in the hands of the Irish Land Commission, and if he can state when they will be divided.

Two holdings in the townlands of Lattin East and Ballynagleragh, in the occupation of Mr. Nicholas Greene, comprising about 543 acres, were retained by the Land Commission, but, after hearing in court on the 3rd December, 1931, the Commissioners allowed the objection of the tenant to the acquisition by them of the lands in Lattin East (about 205 acres). The question of the acquisition of Mr. Greene's interest in the lands of Ballynagleragh is under consideration by the Land Commission.

Schemes for the division of the lands of Synone, on the Fitzgerald estate, and the lands of Ballywire, on the Trinity College estate, are in course of preparation, but until they have been completed and approved the Land Commission are not in a position to state when the lands will be divided.

Can the Minister state the grounds on which the objection to the acquisition of the lands of Lattin East was upheld by the Commissioners?

I cannot state at the moment the grounds on which the objection was upheld. The matter came before the court and the objection was upheld by the Commissioners.

In view of the fact that the agitation for the acquisition of the land occupied by Mr. Greene has been going on for the last eight years, will the Minister undertake to look into this matter again?
