Vol. 41 No. 2

Vote 21—Miscellaneous Expenses.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim bhreise ná raghaidh thar £575 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1932, chun Costaisí Ilghnéitheacha áirithe, maraon le Deontaisí áirithe i gCabhair.

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £575 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1932, for certain Miscellaneous Expenses, including certain Grants-in-Aid.

This Supplementary Estimate was introduced and passed by the last Dáil on the 10th December. Normally the supply granted would have been prescribed by means of the Appropriation Act of 1932, but in consequence of the dissolution of the Dáil it becomes necessary now to have the grant revoted. The additional sum of £575 is to meet the increased expenditure on the existing sub-head E of the Vote and two new services for miscellaneous expenses in the current year. To give the Dáil an idea of the nature of the expenditure I would say that sub-head E is to make provision for an excess expenditure of £125 in respect of grants to Gaeltacht students. E (1) is to meet the cost of the printing of the "Hugh Lane and His Pictures" volume. That is to say the volume which has been prepared by the Curator of the Harcourt Street Gallery, and is circulated setting forth the claim of the Saorstát to the Hugh Lane Bequest. E (2) proposes to make a provision of a grant of £150 to the Veterinary Council under the Act of 1931. The Council was set up by that Act to discharge special functions assigned to it.

Vote agreed to.
