Vol. 41 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Vacancies in High Court.

asked the Minister for Justice whether any vacancies for clerks in the High Court of Justice occurred since May, 1930, and, if so, if he will state the manner in which such vacancies were filled and the names, qualifications and rank in the Civil Service of the persons appointed to such vacancies.

During the period mentioned three Clerical Officers from other Departments were promoted to be Court Clerks in the High Court. The selection was made by the Civil Service Commissioners who appointed a Selection Board for the purpose. One of the persons so selected was a Barrister-at-Law, one was a Bachelor of Arts and of Law, and the thord has special qualifications in accountancy. All three had at least ten years previous service and, in addition to their special qualifications, had shown more than ordinary industry and ability. Their names were duly gazetted on appointment; two of them in the Gazette of 11th July, 1930, and the third in the Gazette of 12th August, 1930.
