Vol. 41 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the nature and extent of the proposed drainage schemes for which grants will be allocated out of the relief schemes outlined in the Budget statement.

The allocation of the moneys made available by the Budget for the relief of unemployment is at present receiving attention. Proposals for various schemes designed to give employment are being approved. The question of the nature and extent of the proposed drainage schemes for which grants will be allocated out of the relief schemes outlined in the Budget statement is under discussion between the departments concerned. It was the intention that these would be confined to minor schemes which would give employment to the maximum amount of manual labour.
