Vol. 41 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Embargo on Wool Imports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if in view of the large amount of wool imported into the Saorstát recently he will consider imposing an embargo on foreign wool in order to compel manufacturers to use the native product.

I am unable to say how far, if at all, any of the wool imported could be replaced by home-produced wool. The matter involves considerations relating to the quality and suitability of wool for manufacturing purposes which are of a highly technical nature. The question is one which, in my opinion, should properly be addressed to the Minister for Industry and Commerce.
