Vol. 41 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tariffed Articles—Statistics.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the total value of the imports and (b) the total amount of customs duty, if any, paid, for the year ended 31st December, 1931, in respect of each of the groups 1 to 11 outlined in the statement of estimated yield of protective duties and changes in existing protected duties recently imposed by customs duty orders or by the Budget Financial Resolutions.

As the answer is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose to circulate it in the Official Report.

Following is the information required:—

In some cases the goods on which duty has been imposed do not always correspond with the Import List Descriptions, under which Trade Statistics have hitherto been compiled, and in these cases the value included in column 3 has, of necessity, been estimated.
