Vol. 42 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sherkin Island Slip.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if any reply has been received from the County Council of the County of Cork with reference to the grant offered some years since by his Department to the County Council towards the repair and improvement of the slip at Sherkin Island, County Cork, and, if not, whether a further inquiry will be addressed to the Council asking if it is proposed to avail of the offer of his Department and have the present dangerous condition of the slip removed.

This landing place is at present vested in the Baltimore Harbour Board and not in the County Council. The Piers and Harbours Tribunal suggested that the Baltimore Harbour and this slip might with advantage be transferred to the County Council, but no move in this direction appears to have been made locally.

In the existing circumstances no offer of State assistance for the improvement of the slip has been made to the County Council.
