Vol. 43 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lough Swilly Railway.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the permanent way of the Lough Swilly Railway Co. is being properly maintained, and whether derailments have recently occurred thereon as a result of deterioration in the permanent way.

I have no reason to believe that the permanent way of the Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway Company is not being properly maintained. I may add that the number of derailments reported to me by the Company since the beginning of 1930, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the Regulation of Railways Act, 1871, numbered two only, neither of which was attributed to any fault in the permanent way nor occurred during the present year.

Will the Minister make inquiries in order further to satisfy himself that he has got all the information to which he is statutorily entitled?

Certainly.
