Vol. 43 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the nature of the order made by the Judicial Commissioner in February, 1930, for possession of the estates of Heathfield and McKim, Coolaney, Co. Sligo.

The Order of the Judicial Commissioner of the 18th February, 1930, referred to the McKim holding only and authorised the Land Commission to resume the holding of Philip McKim and others. Under the Order, the Land Commission are empowered to obtain possession at any time thereafter. As I have already informed the Deputy, the necessary legal steps are being taken to secure possession of the lands.

The lands on the Heather estate are untenanted lands acquired by the Land Commission under Section 36, Land Act, 1923. The solicitors having carriage have informed the Land Commission that they have instituted proceedings for possession.
