asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what amount has been paid out of the Emergency Fund to date and if he will specify the purposes for which payments have been made and the sum issued in respect of each such purpose.

The amount paid out of the Emergency Fund to date is £784,844 4s. 9d. for the following purposes:—

The advances to the Department of Agriculture were for the purpose of putting that Department in funds to enable it to meet expenditure on the schemes for export bounties for butter, cattle and pig products. It would not be possible at the present stage to state how much was required for each of the purposes specified.
