Vol. 46 No. 2

Written Answers. - Reopening of Kerry Slate Quarries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there are valuable slate quarries at Camp. West Kerry, which were worked some years ago, and if he will have an investigation of these quarries made with a view to having them reopened.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The reopening and development of quarries is primarily a matter for private enterprise, but I shall be glad to give any assistance in my power if responsible people in the district give evidence of a practical desire to undertake the reopening and development of the quarries to which the Deputy refers.
