Vol. 46 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Implementing Report on Courts of Justice Act.

asked the Minister for Justice if and when it is proposed to implement by legislation the report of the Joint Committee on the Courts of Justice Act, 1924, made on 6th November, 1930; if his attention has been drawn to the serious inconvenience and loss caused to litigants by the delay in introducing this Bill, and to the unemployment caused to the legal professions by its non-introduction.

The Bill embodying the Government's decisions on this subject has reached an advanced stage, but its completion has been delayed owing to the pressure of other work in the draftsman's office. I hope to be in a position to introduce the Bill at an early date.

Will the Minister explain what he means by an early date? Does he mean that within the next six months we will have this legislation introduced?

I hope so.

A pious hope.
