asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the amount of rates leviable off agricultural land in each county for the years 1931-32 and 1932-33.

I am sending the Deputy a statement showing the information he requires.

The Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Act, 1932, authorised additional grants for the relief of rates as shown in Column 3. This relief was equivalent to 2s. in the £ approximately (or to 75% of the rate as shown in Column 3, where 2s. in the £ would be more than 75% of this rate) in the case of occupiers of holdings up to a rateable valuation of £10, and to the same amount as to the first £10 of valuations exceeding £10.

(a) In these cases varying rates are included in respect of repayment of the loan obtained under the Local Government (Rates on Agricultural Land) Act, 1924.

(b) Subject to reduction in the late Dunfanaghy, Letterkenny and Stranorlar Rural Districts of 6.68d., 16.86d and 5.97d., respectively, owing to adjustment of credit balances.

(c) Subject to reduction in the late Letterkenny and Stranorlar Rural Districts of 16.86d. and 5.97d., respectively, owing to adjustment of credit balances.

(d) Subject to reductions in the late Ardee, Drogheda and Dundalk Rural Districts of 36d., 53d. and 42½d., respectively, owing to adjustment of credit balances.
