Vol. 46 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of Wexford Harbour.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when he expects to be in a position to announce the decision of the Government regarding the scheme at present under consideration for the improvement of Wexford Harbour; whether he is aware of the urgency of the matter in view of the deterioration of the shipping channel by silting, and also of the large numbers of workers in the town of Wexford who directly or indirectly earn a living by handling the live stock and general cargo for which the port caters.

The proposed plan for dealing with Wexford Harbour has been very carefully considered by the Government and independent survey and examination made by their engineer on the spot of this and alternative solutions. The results of these inquiries will shortly be submitted to the Harbour Commissioners.
