Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Effect of the Public Services (Temporary Economies) Bill.

asked the Minister for Finance with relation to the sum of £280,000 estimated as the savings likely to be made in the financial year 1933/34 as a result of the Public Services (Temporary Economies) Bill, 1933, if he will state the approximate amount which will be secured from each of the following groups:—(1) The Agricultural Credit Corporation; (2) the Currency Commission; (3) the Electricity Supply Board; (4) the National University and its Colleges; (5) the Housing Board; (6) the Vocational Education Committees; (7) the Training Colleges; (8) the National Army; (9) the Gárda Síochána; (10) the National Teachers; and (11) the Civil Service (exclusive of any of the previous groups).

The estimated saving of £280,000 relates only to deductions under Part II of the Bill and does not include deductions that will fall to be made under Part III. Pending the result of the consultations necessary under Clauses 9, 10 and 11 of the Bill, it is not possible to give an indication of the amount of the deductions to be made in the cases of the bodies numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (6) and (7) in the question. The deductions in the case of the Housing Board will be £92. The estimated amount of the deductions under the remaining heads are:—
