Vol. 47 No. 5

Proposed Question on the Adjournment.

Arising out of the matter which I wished to raise on the adjournment, am I to understand that leave is not going to be granted to raise this matter? I feel rather sore on the point that objection should be taken to my application to have the matter raised on the adjournment. It is very seldom I take up the time of the House in raising questions of this kind. I do not want the matter to be shelved.

It is a matter which the Deputy might discuss privately with the Chair.

There is no precedent when a member of this House asks to raise a matter on the adjournment providing that the Ceann Comhairle should be seen beforehand. I have never heard of such a precedent being established by any Deputy.

What matter is being raised.

It has frequently happened that a Deputy has seen the Ceann Comhairle in order to make clear what precise point is to be raised on the adjournment.

If that is the case, I accept your ruling.
