Vol. 47 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Volunteer Force.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that active recruiting campaigns are in progress for quasi-military organisations, and whether he will provide means for young men with military tastes to receive training and to serve the State as unpaid volunteers in a National Territorial Force.

I have seen references in the Press to the matter referred to in the first part of the Deputy's question.

The suggestion in the second part of the question is already under consideration.

Has that suggestion not been under consideration for a very considerable period? Can the Minister hold out any hope of an early decision?

Not at the moment.
