Vol. 48 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Cold-Stored Butter.

asked the Minister for Finance whether since 1922 any moneys have been received by the State from the British Government in respect of losses sustained by Irish butter merchants who were compelled by order of the Department of Agriculture to cold-store butter in the summer of 1920 to meet the scarcity of the winter following, and, if so, whether any merchants or creameries have been paid any compensation out of such moneys, and, if so, to what amount and on what basis.

No moneys have been received from the British Government in respect of the losses mentioned by the Deputy. The answer to the second part of the question is, therefore, in the negative.
