Vol. 49 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Macroom National School Accommodation.

asked the Minister for Education if he has received representations from the Macroom Vocational Education Sub-Committee to the effect that the accommodation in the new national school now being erected in Macroom is inadequate; if he is aware that additional rooms are required; and whether in view of the important and Irish-speaking area that will be served in this school he will give a grant to enable the additional accommodation to be provided.

It is presumed that the question relates to the new vocational school which is being erected in Macroom. I have not received any representations from the Macroom Vocational Education Sub-Committee in regard to the accommodation in this school. Any representations which the sub-committee may desire to make in the matter should be addressed to the body by which it was appointed, viz., the County Cork Vocational Education Committee. This is the statutory authority which is responsible for the building of the school. The plans of the school were approved by this Committee, as well as by the Department.
